Integration Costs Halved and Same-Day Order Fulfilment

A UK e-commerce warehouse and fulfilment provider needed to connect its clients’ sales channels to its warehouse management system and couriers. We built an integration platform that halved client onboarding time and integration costs, with orders fulfilled the same day.

Project turnaround for new client integrations halved by streamlining the implementation workflow.
Lower integration costs

Reliance on third-party development agencies replaced with an in-house integration capability.
Order fulfilment
Same-day
Orders now leave the warehouse the day they arrive.

The problem

As the business grew, onboarding each new fulfilment client became slower and more expensive. Every client needed a custom integration between their e-commerce platform, such as Shopify, and the warehouse management system (WMS).

Without a reusable integration layer, the team relied on manual processes and third-party development agencies. That meant long RFP cycles, higher costs and delayed go-lives for new clients.

There was also no central view of data and order flows. When an integration failed, finding out why took time, and managing performance across clients was difficult.

What we built

We built an Integration Hub that sits between the sales channels, the WMS and the couriers:

  • Direct connections from Shopify stores and EDI client feeds to the warehouse management system, through secure REST APIs and EDI.
  • Automatic validation, mapping and transformation of every order before it reaches the warehouse.
  • A guided onboarding flow that maps a new client’s order fields to the WMS, so a new integration is set-up rather than a project.
  • Real-time monitoring that flags failed orders, explains the error and lets the team retry with one click.
  • A complete audit trail of every event for every order, across every system.

The proven outcome

Replacing one-off integrations with a connected platform cut operating costs, sped up fulfilment and gave the business full visibility of its operations.

With a scalable integration layer in place, the business onboards new clients faster, processes orders more efficiently and can grow without adding integration work for every new account.
